Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP)
HEAP is a federally funded program for income eligible households. HEAP provides financial assistance to low-income households in meeting their energy needs. Eligibility is based on household income and housing situation. The HEAP program is comprised of a Regular and Emergency Benefits. HEAP program guidelines, benefit levels and operational timeframes are established by the New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance ( OTDA).
This year, the regular program will open on November 18th and run through February 1st 2014. Emergency HEAP opens January 2nd, 2014 and ends March 17th, 2014. Information about HEAP can be found here on this site or on OTDA’s website http://otda.ny.gov/programs/.
